BOWEN THERAPY

Practitioner: Caroline Crane, Fhare Ltd, Furzedown Farm, Weymouth. Home visits available for animals.

The Bowen Technique is a complementary, holistic and gentle non-intrusive hands on therapy which stimulates and activates the body’s inner ability to heal itself. This reorganisation of the musculature of the body can bring increased energy levels and pain relief. As a soft tissue therapy, the process ‘disturbs’ the fascia or connective tissue; there is no pulling or cracking of joints and no insertion of needles. The therapist uses fingers or thumbs in a rolling action over specific muscles, tendons and ligaments; incorporating resting periods to allow the body to absorb the information and respond accordingly.

Bowen has been successfully used for a variety of animals including horses, cats and dogs. Some horse owners use it to aid recovery after an injury, some as a regular therapy in order to avoid problems developing from the stresses and strains of ridden or driven work, some to release stresses after routine procedures such as dental checks, and some to enhance the performance of their horse when it is feeling ‘a little off’.

Equine Bowen Therapy is not intended as a substitute for veterinary advice or treatment. If in doubt please contact your veterinary surgeon

A treatment will take approximately 45 mins. Two or three treatments, usually at weekly intervals may be required to achieve lasting relief.

REIKI HEALING

Practitioner: Georgie McBurney, Fhare Ltd, Furzedown Farm, Weymouth. Home visits available for animals.

Reiki energy is a powerful, high vibrational energy, which contrasts with illness and dis-ease which are lower vibrational energies. Reiki was used by ancient Tibetan Lamas and Buddhist monks for self improvement and re-discovered in the 1800’s by Japanese scholar Dr Mikao Usui. ‘Rei’ means ‘universal’ and is the higher intelligence or higher spiritual consciousness that guides the creation and function of the universe. ‘Ki’ means ‘life force’ and is the energy that flows through every living thing. Reiki is now becoming more and more welcome within the NHS.

Juniper Natural Therapies

Reiki goes wherever it is needed first, which may be physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. Reiki is non-invasive, gentle yet powerful and can be used alongside orthodox health care. It is not an alternative to conventional medicine however, you should always consult your GP about acute or infectious conditions and with problems of an urgent nature.

A human treatment will take approximately 45 mins. A reiki session with an animal will be led by the animals preference, hands on or off, nearby or by distance. Animals are sensitive to the energy and generally find it relaxing and comforting as humans do.
